Step by step

Work through the steps in order. Times are estimates.

  1. Part 1 Prepare

Step 1: Remove the old toilet

    15 min
    1. Turn off the water at the shut-off valve, then flush and hold the handle to drain the tank.
    2. Sponge out the water left in the tank and bowl.
    3. Disconnect the supply line, unscrew the floor bolt nuts and lift the toilet straight up.
    4. Scrape the old wax ring off the floor and stuff a rag in the drain to block sewer gas.

TipLay the old toilet on cardboard or a towel. It will drip.

  2. Step 2: Unbox your ZUNO

    5 min
    1. Stand the carton right side up and open the top.
    2. Take out the accessories first, then lift the toilet straight up out of the box.
    3. Check the parts against the In the box list above.

CautionThe toilet weighs about 95 lb (43 kg). Lift it with a helper.

  3. Part 2 Mount

    Step 3: Mark the holes

    10 min
    1. Center the floor flange over the drain and mark its four mounting holes.
    2. Set the toilet over the drain. Slide the two mounting brackets into the openings at the bottom left and right, then mark their screw holes.
    3. Lift the toilet away.

TipMark each hole with a small cross so it's easy to find when you drill.

  4. Step 4: Fix the flange and brackets

    15 min
    1. Drill the marked holes with a 0.24 in (6 mm) bit.
    2. Pull the rag out of the drain and set the flange over it.
    3. Bolt the flange down with its four bolts, then run a bead of silicone around its edge.
    4. Screw both mounting brackets down at their marks.

TipVacuum up the drilling dust so the wax ring seals cleanly.

  5. Step 5: Set the toilet

    10 min
    1. Press the wax ring onto the drain outlet on the bottom of the toilet.
    2. Line the outlet up with the flange and lower the toilet straight down. Press down firmly so the wax ring seals against the floor.
    3. Bolt both sides of the toilet to the brackets and snap on the caps.

CautionLower it in one go. Lifting the toilet again breaks the wax seal, and you'll need a new ring.

  6. Part 3 Connect

    FilterT-valve

    Step 6: Connect the water

    10 min
    1. Attach the flush water hose to the T-valve and tighten.
    2. Attach the filter and the clean water hose to the T-valve and tighten.
    3. Hold a bucket under the shut-off valve and open it briefly until the water runs clear, then close it.
    4. Thread the T-valve onto the water supply with its gasket and tighten.

CautionUse the hoses that came with your ZUNO.

  7. ON

    Step 7: Check for leaks

    5 min
    1. Open the shut-off valve, then turn the T-valve fully open.
    2. Check every joint for drips.
    3. If a joint leaks, loosen the nut, reseat the hose and tighten it again.

TipWrap a dry paper towel around each joint. Even a slow drip shows up.

  8. TestReset

    Step 8: Plug it in

    5 min
    1. Plug the toilet into a grounded 110 V outlet, pushing the plug all the way in.
    2. Check that the light on the plug is on. If it isn't, press RESET on the plug.
    3. The toilet runs a quick self-check: lights come on, the nozzle extends and water runs through. That's normal.

CautionUse a grounded outlet only. A loose plug can overheat.

  9. Part 4 Finish

    2 Γ— AAA

Step 9: Set up the remote

    5 min
    1. Peel the adhesive backing off the remote holder and press it onto the wall.
    2. Remove the cover on the back of the remote and insert 2 AAA batteries.
    3. The remote comes paired. Press any button to test it, then rest it in the holder.

TipPlace the holder within reach of the seat and away from the bidet's spray.

  10. Step 10: Load the backup battery box

    5 min
    1. Unscrew the cover with a Phillips screwdriver and insert 10 AA batteries, matching + and βˆ’.
    2. Close the cover and tighten the screws fully. The seal keeps moisture out.
    3. Keep the box near the toilet. In a power outage, connect it to the toilet's battery wire and press the side knob to flush.

CautionOnly connect the battery box during a power outage. Connecting it while the toilet has power can stop the toilet from working.

  11. Step 11: Test every function

    5 min
    1. Cover the seat sensor with your hand (or sit down) and start Rear Wash from the remote or the side knob.
    2. Hold your hand over the spray to check it, then try Front Wash, water pressure and nozzle position.
    3. Check the dryer, the water and seat temperatures, and nozzle self-cleaning.

TipWash won't start? The seat sensor needs to detect you, so sit fully back on the seat.

If something isn't working

The power light won't come on

Push the plug fully into a working grounded outlet, then press RESET on the plug. If the toilet is on standby, press and hold STOP on the remote.

Wash won't start, or the spray is weak

Sit fully on the seat so the sensor detects you. Make sure the T-valve is fully open and the supply hose isn't kinked. Wash shuts off on its own after 2 minutes; press it again to restart.

The toilet won't flush

Check that the shut-off valve and the T-valve are open. If auto-flush has been turned off, press and hold FLUSH on the remote to turn it back on.

The remote doesn't respond

Replace the AAA batteries. Still nothing? Re-pair it: press TEST on the power plug, then press RESET and wait for the beep. Hold the multi-function button on the side of the toilet for 3–5 seconds and, when it beeps, quickly press any button on the remote.

The water or seat isn't warm

Raise the temperature on the remote. If the seat stays lukewarm until you sit, Eco mode is on: it holds the seat at about 86Β°F (30Β°C) and warms it fully once you're seated.
